Claira Hollingsworth (’14) graduated from Dixie State University with her associates degree in health science. She is currently working on her dental hygiene certifications. She is looking forward to completing her education and returning to the Dominican Republic to participate in another humanitarian service project. She is also Miss Idaho and will be an contestant in the upcoming Miss USA Pageant.
Claira is currently filming iFit videos with ICON fitness of Logan, Utah that is available for iFit users to download for exercise guidance and encouragement from their home. Although Claira has been diagnosed with Scoliosis she stays strong by working out at the gym and running to clear her mind and stay physically fit.
One of Claira’s most memorable experiences is spending three weeks in the Dominican Republican assisting with medical and dental needs of the children there. “It was so rewarding to be able to make a difference in their lives offering services that we take for granted in the United States,” says Claira. This experience helped her to create her platform to teach Idaho’s youth about the importance of nutrition and exercise. Her four key ingredients to a healthy body are good sleep habits, physical relaxation, good nutrition and proper exercise.
As a retired rodeo queen she has had the opportunity to coach young, aspiring queens and pageant hopefuls and has also judged pageants in Utah and Idaho. Working from the “other side of the score sheet” has given Claira a new look into the world of competition which she feels has been an amazing benefit in preparing for Miss Idaho USA.
In her spare time Claira loves to relax at home with her part-wolf dog, Sam, ride horses, hang out with her friends and watching her favorite football team, the Saints, win! Claira’s number one fan, other than her parents, is her 7 year old nephew. They are best friends and have a special bond that few people ever enjoy. He is her hero and she his heroine. Her favorite treat is Oreos, double stuffed of course, and homemade chicken noodle soup.
Claira’s favorite quote is, “So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98% and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you’ll move mountains.” – Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
