This is a dream come true for her. She credits her success (coming from an initial 4:23 hour marathon to 2:40 marathon) to God, and the support of her family, plus a crazy love for running.
“Running inspires me, energizes me, motivates me, calms me, charges me, answers many of my questions, and gives me a reason to live passionately,” said Amber. While she had a few jobs in the past as a flower decorator and wedding cake decorator, her favorite job is being a Wife, Mom, and Runner. Her dream job is to be a “Baby-Jogger,” where she’d take babies for a run in a jogger stroller while giving their Mom a little break.
Amber always wanted to go back to school to finish up her degree, and in 2011 she discovered the Communications program at DSU that offered a night-time program. She completed the program and received a Bachelors of Science in Communication Cum Laude with an Organization & Leadership Emphasis in 2013. Amber is very grateful that she had this opportunity to get her degree in a way that worked with her family schedule.
“I hope to encourage others to stay active, eat healthy food, and follow their dreams,” she said. We all have a reason why we are drawn to certain things. Marathons are where she has been drawn to and she loves (almost) every step of those 26.2 miles and hopes to continue running forever. In the future she wants to be able to coach other runners, preferably at the high school level.
One of her favorite memories from when she attended Dixie is being part of the student government and planning school activities. She loves to be around people and likes to be involved.
